GREER – Ila Curtis Price, Jr., 90, of 1305 Boiling Springs Road, formerly of Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg, died June 11, 2003, at National Healthcare of Greenville.

A native of Union, he was the son of the late Ila Curtis Price Sr. and Hattie Wood Price and the widower of Georgia Gowan Price.

He was a retired cotton broker and partner in Kennedy and price and member of St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church of Spartanburg.  He was a frequent participant in golf tournaments at the Spartanburg Country Club and was commissioner and scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America.  He was a member of the Southwestern Cotton Merchants Association and was a veteran of the Army, having served as a Corporal during World War II, where he served in Italy and France.  He was a recipient of a purple heart.

Survivors include three sons, Ila Curtis Price III of Columbia, Johnny Price of Greenville and Stephen Gowan Price of Annapolis, Md.; two daughters, Mary Ann Price Hall of Atlanta and Patricia Yates of New Zealand; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, conducted by the Rev. Cal Vick.

Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Pam Scurry, 8 Sirrine Drive, Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Senior Action Center, 402 E. McBee Ave., Greenville, SC, 29601.
