Swimming Merit BadgeLifesaving Merit BadgeScuba Diving Merit Badge

It is almost time for the 11th annual Spring Aquatics Camporee. This is a great opportunity for Troop 1 scouts to participate in a district wide scouting event even if they have already earned the Merit Badges being offered, and also a good time to complete First Class Cooking Requirements.

First year scouts and any others not having the swimming merit badge will earn that badge. Scouts who have completed the Swimming Merit Badge are encouraged to complete the Life Saving Merit Badge (Eagle Required) or Discover Scuba. Please note BSA Scuba will also be offered to a limited number of scouts for an extra fee of $30. You will use actual scuba gear in the pool and learn the fundamentals of scuba. Please let me know at once in order to get your name on Scuba list.

Event Summary

Friday – Parents should plan to drop scouts off after 4:30 pm (probably on North Campus Drive). Scouts will set up the campsite before swim tests and supper. Scouts do not need to be in uniform when they arrive, but they must have their complete Class A uniform with them to be worn on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Saturday – The day will be divided into merit badge classes and the service project. Scouts will only have the opportunity to work on one merit badge. There will be a campfire at night.

Sunday – We will offer a Scout’s Own Service in the morning, pack up, and scouts should be picked up by 9:00 am.

Each troop will handle all of its own meals. Troop 1 scouts will be responsible for their own food and should also bring a mess kit and utensils for eating and cooking. The troop will have the scout trailer and provide grills and stoves for cooking.

BSA Scuba will be offered at an additional charge of $30 for boys that have completed at least the swimming merit badge. This will be on a first come first serve basis. Scouts will need to fill out a medical form at the Scuba Shop to participate. Let Ted know if you are interested for more details.
