Robert “Butch” Carlisle Fitchett, Jr., 55, of 2121 Washington Road, died Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at home after a brief illness. He was the son of Robert C., Sr. and Jean Thompson Fitchett.
A resident of Spartanburg since 1957, he was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, a self-employed contractor and had worked in the family knitting business. He graduated from Spartanburg High School and was on the Dean’s list while attending USC, an Eagle Scout, a sound technician for local bands, and an avid pool player.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, James C. Fitchett and wife, Shari, of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Denise F. Price and husband, Ron of Gramling; a niece, Jessica Fitchett; a nephew, Alex Fitchett, both of Atlanta, GA; and an aunt, Susan F. Mayo of McDonough, GA. He was predeceased by grandparents, Otis and Edna Shelley Fitchett and Calvin and Myrtle Johnson Thompson.
Visitation will be 5:00-6:45 PM, Thursday, April 22, 2010, at Bobo Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Clarence Crocker and Rev. Daniel Blackwell officiating. Private burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
