November 10-12, 2017

Troop 1 is heading to Charlotte and the McDowell Nature Preserve to finish out our camping program for 2017. This is the same camping spot we have visited twice before during our super summer trips to Charlotte and is the perfect spot for that final campfire of the season.

On Saturday afternoon we will head over to nearby Monroe to attend the Warbirds Over Monroe Airshow as we take a trip back in aviation time. From Pearl Harbor and the D-Day invasion to the European Occupation and into Vietnam, you will witness history in the air and on the ground. Take a look at a few highlights from last year’s event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEpI1om660M.

There will be a $35 fee which will cover admission to the airshow and camping fees along with Friday Dinner and Sunday Breakfast in route. Scouts will need to provide and cook their three meals on Saturday. Lunch should be packable to take on the bus to Monroe. First Class Cooking requirements can be accomplished on Saturday under these guidelines: https://troop1.me/wp-content/uploads/firstclasscooking.pdf. A scout must invite two other scouts to form a patrol and provide and cook the three meals.

We will depart from the scout hut on Friday afternoon at 4:30 and return Sunday afternoon around noon.
