Robert “Butch” Carlisle Fitchett, Jr. was born November 11, 1954, the son of Robert C. Fitchett, Sr. and Jean Thompson Fitchett. He became an Eagle Scout at Troop 1 in January 1973.
A Spartanburg resident from 1957, he graduated from Spartanburg High School and earned Dean’s List honors at the University of South Carolina. He worked in his family’s knitting business and later as a self-employed contractor. He was a sound technician for local bands, an avid pool player, and a member of Glendale Baptist Church.
He died at home on April 20, 2010, at the age of 55, survived by his parents; his brother, James C. Fitchett of Atlanta; his sister, Denise F. Price of Gramling; a niece and nephew, Jessica and Alex Fitchett; and an aunt, Susan F. Mayo. He is buried at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
