Robert Acheson “Goldie” Goldstein was born in Spartanburg on November 25, 1979, and was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout on February 14, 1996, at sixteen. He was the son of Lawrence Oliver and Janice Roberts Goldstein, and the brother of Lawrence Gabriel Goldstein, who reached Eagle in Troop 1 in November 1993. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow and a recipient of the God and Country Award.

He graduated from Spartanburg Day School and from the University of the South at Sewanee, where he belonged to Kappa Alpha, the Highlanders, and the Order of Gownsmen. He worked as a project coordinator for the Steritech Group in Charlotte, NC. He was an outdoorsman and a fly fisherman, and an accomplished cook.

Goldstein died at his home on October 17, 2005, at the age of twenty-five. His funeral was held at the Church of the Advent, and he was entombed in the church’s Bell Tower Columbarium. Memorial gifts were directed to funds established in his name at the University of the South and at the Troop 1 Legacy Fund of the Spartanburg County Foundation.
