Thomas Adam Pierce is the son of Mickey and Nancy Pierce of Spartanburg. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout on November 10, 1997.
For his Eagle Scout project, Thomas researched the Confederate iron cross grave markers in the historic churchyard of the Episcopal Church of the Advent. His research led to the markers being refurbished and permanently replaced. Along with the Eagle rank, he received the God and Country religious award. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow in Skyuka Lodge. He was fifteen when the Spartanburg Herald-Journal reported his awards in February 1998.
