Eagle Scout: October 14, 2008
Walker Howard Tiller grew up in Spartanburg, where he attended Spartanburg Day School. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout on October 14, 2008. He is the son of Nancy Blake Tiller and the late Dr. W. Howard Tiller Jr., an orthopaedic surgeon who was also an Eagle Scout, and the grandson of Dr. Wendell Howard Tiller and Martha Ivey Tiller.
His Eagle project benefited the Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home and SPACE. He led 20 fellow Scouts in building and installing four large benches along the Upper Chinquapin Trail, behind the Hospice Home. At Spartanburg Day School he ran cross country, played middle school basketball, and made the high honor roll. He was also active in the junior high youth program at First Presbyterian Church.
