Dear Mom and Dad,
I’ve had a great day! I hope you aren’t too lonely without me.
We watched The Incredibles on the way down to camp. The bus was really fancy. It had power outlets and wi-fi. Our bus driver’s name was “Shrek” and he has been driving the troop to camp for the last three years.
We ate lunch at Rush’s in Lexington. Everybody there knows our troop. I had a double cheeseburger, french fries, root beer, and a chocolate shake. I thought I should eat a lot in case camp food isn’t so good!
We got to camp just after two. Mr. Howard gave us blue bracelets after we checked into the Health Lodge. We can’t take them off all week, but I’m thinking about leaving mine on all year long just like Drew L. has done the last two years.
New Shirmer (our campsite) looks a whole lot bigger this year. There were so many tents last year, but now we have lots of room to run around and play frisbee.
Supper was great. I didn’t expect that! We had salisbury steak (it was really like a hamburger patty with gravy), mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, and chocolate pudding for dessert. Some people went to the salad bar, but you know that I wouldn’t do that. I was the waiter for my table, so I got to get into the air conditioning early and stay late. We sang songs after supper and did the Ho Non Wah waiters clap.
It’s hot down here!!! I heard some boys say it was 120 degrees this afternoon.
One thing I like is that a lot of boys brought guitars. Nate, Hank, Chris, and Alex were all playing stuff like Stairway To Heaven and something cool from some guy called Pachabel. I think I want a guitar for my birthday.
Please send me mail! I’m not homesick at all, but I sure would like to hear from you and Grandma.
I love you,
Your son
PS – We’ve already started practicing for the Ultimate Frisbee game. We’re going to beat the counselors again!
PPS – Dr. Lawton said that you can look at lots of pictures on the Troop 1 SmugMug site.
