Monday evening, 9:20pm

Hello Mom and Dad!

Today was another great day at camp… even if there was no hot water in the showers for the scouts or the adults this morning!  I got up around 6:30am when Charles Mercer and Ligon Chewning were leaving for a run around camp.

Mr. Gage and the other scoutmasters brought our shirts to us last night before we went to sleep.  I thought the stories about Rocky the raccoon weren’t real, but then we spotted Rock in New Shirmer this morning!

I think breakfast is my favorite meal at camp.  We had cereal, French toast, sausage, and orange juice.  Everyone sang the sausage song.  You can learn the words if you listen to us sing!

I went to all my classes today… the Woodsmen learned about axes and saws, and I even got to practice my swing.  Don’t worry – the counselors made sure we were being safe.

Woodsman

Most of us in the Woodsmen program started working on the leatherwork and Indian Lore merit badges, but Reid Stille gets to enjoy the pool when he is working on the swimming merit badge.

Goodies (the head counselor) told us that lots of boys had been dehydrated today, but no one in Troop 1 threw up today.  🙂  Our Woodsmen counselors like to shout “Drink water” throughout the day and we all yell back “Lots and lots of water!”

I heard that the rising eighth graders had to run a mile for their Personal Fitness merit badge class around noon today.  I’m not sure I’m ready to do that yet!

Lunch was “ok” – ham and cheese hoagies.  I saw one of the scoutmasters opting for peanut butter and jelly!

A number of boys received email messages today and a few boys got a real letter. Remember that you can send me a message at [email protected] (HINT).

Our older guys started practicing for the big ultimate frisbee game tomorrow night.  Troop 1 always wins!  I played frisbee and soccer around our campsite before supper.

Stephen Forrest had a birthday today and the counselors all sang for him after supper. That was really neat to see.  We had chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, and I ate a lot!

We’re back in the campsite now and I think that lots of us are going to bed early… or at least earlier than last night.

I love you both, but I’m too busy to say I miss you!
