Keowee World of Energy 2010 016

Nuclear Science

Let’s start thinking about our next scout trip which will end our camping days until next March. For the weekend of November 13-15, 2015, we are headed to Lake Keowee to visit The World of Energy and the Stumphouse Tunnel and to definitely have lots and lots of fun along the way. We will arrive Friday night and camp at High Falls County Park, in Oconee County both nights.

On Saturday morning we will head up to the Stumphouse Tunnel and do some exploring before heading over to the Duke Energy World of Energy Visitor Center we-about-us.asp  where the guys working on the Nuclear Science Merit Badge will fulfill one of their requirements and the rest of us will also discover how nuclear energy works.  We will be offering Nuclear Science again in the future so the guys not taking it now will get this requirement checked off for if they do take it in the future.

Scouts will need to plan to provide and prepare their three meals for Saturday.  This trip is an excellent chance to complete First Class Cooking requirements for scouts that need that.  The troop will provide a dinner stop on the way over Friday night and also a breakfast stop on the way home on Sunday morning.

Please register by the November 10th meeting.  The fee is $25.  You do not want to miss this final campfire of 2015!!
