Possibly the best-loved river in the Southeast, the “Nanty” is a captivating introduction to Whitewater.
Troop 1 will be camping at Lake Summit the weekend of August 23-25, 2013. Scouts will have the opportunity to work on rank and merit badge advancement while spending a great day on the water.
Following breakfast Saturday morning we will spend the day engaging in lake activities. Scouts will be able to complete requirements 5-7 of the Water Sports Merit Badge and the field portions of the Motorboating Merit Badge. Scouts who attend should be ready to have some fun on the lake. There will be plenty of lake “frolicking”.
After defeating the other scout teams at Camp Ho Non Wah, Troop 1 scouts were extended an invitation to compete against the staff ultimate frisbee team. The competition took place on Friday night, and the Troop 1 team made Spartanburg proud.
As a perfect ending to the week at camp, Troop One scouts won the Commissioner’s Award and were allowed to take home the Ho Non Wah paddle.
