railroadingMeritBadgeTroop 1 will be taking to the rails November 1-3, 2013. We will be participating in the BSA Rail Camp sponsored by the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC which is just north of Charlotte on I-85. Scout troops from all over the Carolinas will be camping on the grounds of the museum and earning the railroading merit badge on Saturday afternoon by rotating through the various stations to complete each of the various requirements. During the morning hours you will have the opportunity to take a train ride and visit museum exhibits. For more information on the weekend plans go to http://www.nctrans.org/Special-Programs—Tours/Boy-Scout-Rail-Camp.aspx

The cost for this adventure will be $25.00 per person and includes the rail camp merit badge instruction, transportation, and camping accommodations. Scouts will be responsible for supplying and preparing their own meals (Friday Dinner – Sunday Breakfast). The scout grills and stoves will be available for your use. The troop has reserved and paid for 20 spots. If we need to add additional spots (there is no guarantee they will be available as this event typically sells out) we must do so by Friday, October 25 so please make every effort to register in timely so everyone that wants to attend will be able to do so. We will meet at the scout hut on Friday at 3:30 and plan to depart by 4:00. The arrival time back in Spartanburg on Sunday is expected about noon.
