Rail Camp 2013
Troop 1 will be taking to the rails November 1-3, 2013. We will be participating in the BSA Rail Camp sponsored by the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC which is just north of Charlotte on I-85.
Lake Jocasse – The Foothills Trail
The October backpacking trip take us to The Jocasse lake Foothills trail area. This area is known as the Big Blue Wall or Blue Ridge Escarpment as the 2000 ft. NC elevation quickly drops to the Jocasse lake area in SC. Spectacular waterfalls are everywhere and the 76 mile Foothills trail snakes back and forth across the SC/NC state line. Historically, since the steep slopes in the area form a natural coral, the Cherokee Indians and Civil War hideouts referred to the area as the “Horsepasture.”
