Dear Mom and Dad,

Send a boat!  It’s raining like crazy down here!

Today started out great.  We have hot water in the showers!  We wore our ultimate frisbee shirts because Troop 1 was going to play the other troops tonight in the athletic competitions.

I ate biscuits,  sausage gravy, cereal, and orange juice for breakfast.  Breakfast here is pretty good.

I got to light a fire in the Woodsmen program this morning.  There were two sets of boys trying to build a fire, and my group was the only one that got a flame!

We also worked on lashing wood together.  We even learned how to make a long piece of wood out of two shorter pieces.Woodsman 2015

I was able to watch Graham Scheel shooting a shotgun this morning.  I’ve already decided that I want to take that class next year.  The instructor, Mr. Donnie, is really funny… but sometimes it’s hard to understand his Southern accent.

Mr. Schwartz and Mr. Satterfield drove a bunch of boys from the Oceanography and Citizenship in the Nation classes to a fish hatchery on Wadmalaw Island.  Bennett Rudolph told me that he saw a 200 pound fish!

Lunch was good today.  We had sausage dogs, french fries, ICE CREAM, and bug juice.

I told you yesterday that no boys had been thrown up at camp.  I think I told a lie!  Too many boys ate too much candy yesterday… You can figure our the rest.

We had chicken and rice for supper.  It wasn’t bad.  We had some white cake with peaches on top for dessert, and I ate part of that (you an guess which part).  After supper, Troop 1 was responsible for cleaning the entire dining hall.  We had to move all the chairs, sweep the floors, and then put all the chairs back.  It looked a little bit like we didn’t know what we were doing, but everything worked out eventually.

All the new boys earned our fingerprinting merit badge tonight.  The athletic competitions were supposed to start right after we finished with fingerprinting, but it started raining and it hasn’t stopped yet.  I think that New Shirmer campground is going to look like a lake in the morning.

Lots of us ran around in the rain tonight, and lots of us just sat in our Adirondacks and tents talking and playing cards.  It was kind of fun to be stuck inside with friends.

I’m tired, so I’ll send more pictures later.  Keep your fingers crossed that my tent doesn’t leak!

Love you,
Your son
