Join us for a full weekend of scouting activities at the Johnson Lake Pavilion!
KEY FACTS
- Where: Johnson Lake Pavilion – see below for directions
- Arrival: Friday, August 14, between 4:00 – 5:00 PM in Class B uniforms
- Departure: Sunday, August 16, pickup between 9:30 – 10:30 AM
- Transportation: Scouts are responsible for getting to and from Lake Bowen
- Uniform: Class B all weekend – no Class A needed
- Cost: $20 for the weekend
ABOUT THE TRIP
Join us for a weekend on the water at Lake Bowen! Scouts will have the chance to work toward the Water Sports merit badge with boating, fishing, and swimming throughout the weekend. First Class Cooking can also be completed this weekend – see below.
PARENTS
First-year Scouts need a parent or assigned guardian in attendance for this trip.
MEALS
The Troop will provide Saturday dinner (Mexican) and Sunday breakfast (grab-and-go). Scouts are responsible for cooking their own Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, and Saturday lunch.
First Class Cooking: This requirement can be completed this weekend by the first 4 Scouts who reach out to Tim Satterfield.
ATTENDANCE
Scouts on this trip are expected to be in attendance from start to finish.
WHAT TO PACK
- Fishing pole
- PFD (personal flotation device), marked with your name
- Swim towel
- Swimsuit
- Food – one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner
- Normal camping gear – tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, stove, water bottle, flashlight, etc.

Directions to Johnson Lake Pavilion
Address: 110 Waterline Rd, Inman, SC 29349
- From Spartanburg, take I-26W to Exit 10 and turn right onto Hwy 292
- In 0.2 miles, turn left onto Miller Farm Rd (just past the Spinx station)
- In 0.7 miles, turn right onto Edwards Rd
- In 0.7 miles, turn left onto White Oak Rd
- In 0.1 miles, White Oak Rd turns into a gravel road leading to the pavilion entrance gate
